Homeless

So we're still trying to find a home for Yam Yam Promotions which is proving to be quite an arduous task! However this doesn't stop our productivity in terms of gig bookings. We have been contacted by an amazing band in the form of Above Them and will be putting them on in Liverpool on Friday 29th July with a venue to be confirmed. Hopefully we will have found a home by then.
In other news we're going to Crash Doubt Fest in Lincoln on May 14th and 15th. The bill looks amazing and I implore everyone to scrape together the mere £15 and make it down for one of the days. Look at it by clicking on the picture below.

These are the calibre of bands that we want to be bringing to Liverpool in the future so check them all out.

If you're free on Wednesday 27th April pop over to Manc-land and check out Dead to Me w/ The Arteries being put on by Moving North which is linked to the right. Moving North will keep you updated with all the best Punk gigs in Manchester.

Don't Panic

Completely inspired by the performance we saw at The Pilgrim on March 21st, we've got Just Panic in for the first time to support canadian hardcore punks 'Unfun' and British punks 'Pudge' from Sheffield at Heebie Jeebies Basement on Wednesday 13th April. We will be playing some tunes after the bands and we encourage everyone to stick around and make a night of it. It's our first show at Heebie Jeebies Basement so I'm looking forward to seeing whether we've found our home. We've been searching for new venues since The Arteries' gig on February 8th. We hope to bring you exciting news within the next week.

In other news we have badges! They are of the LPC (Liverpool Punk Community) logo which is seen on our blog and our facebook. We want to encourage other punk promoters and bands to use this logo to bring all Liverpool Punks together. We'll be giving them out at our gigs and I'll be wearing mine!

Tickets for Crash Doubt Festival, Lincoln in May have gone on sale this week. Really tempted to go down with 60+ bands in 2 days and the calibre of the bands is awesome. Only £15 a day, let's hope they're not sold out by pay day. Check out the link below for line up information and ticket info.

Finally the guys from Smile and Burn who'll be visiting Liverpool on Thursday 7th of April have released their tour poster with all the dates of their tour.

I really can't wait now, less than two weeks before the gig at Bumper. Our friend Stu Brown (whose link is above) designed our poster and flyer for this one and they've turned out great! Thanks Stu and everyone keep an eye out for the flyers around town. Even better check it out below. Thanks.

Apologies, I have one

On Monday 21st of March, The Pilgrim played host to one of the best showcases of Punk Rock you could hope for. The bill included some of the hottest Liverpool Punk Bands with the help of Apologies, I Have None on tour from London. £3 to get in was a bargain in anybody’s books for the quality of bands on show.
The show started with Liverpool newcomers Amateur Video. The lads gave it all they have and then a little bit more and I tip them to go a long way in the Punk scene. A great crowd of around 60 people packed in to the small room of the upstairs of The Pilgrim. You can tell a great opening act when the whole crowd converge to the front of the stage instead of standing back at the bar, which is what Amateur Video succeeded to do!
Following them were out-of-towners Apologies, I Have None with sing along anthems that remind me of bands like ‘The Loved Ones’. Despite being the only non-Northern act on the bill they had as much a following as the local bands. Everyone singing along especially when the southerners played ‘Sat In Vicky Park’, it was a pleasure to see these guys play at last, they are a credit to the Punk scene with their relentless touring and I implore you to check them out when they’re in your town next!
Southport’s Just Panic who organised and promoted this gig themselves were next on stage and despite some sound system failures managed to get everyone dancing with some pretty extreme dance moves including a human pyramid that would be more expected in an American cheerleading squad’s practice session, and crowd surfing which is synonymous with Punk Rock. A highlight of the set was when they played the crowd favourite, ‘Apologise for any Inconvenience’ when microphones were ignored due to the audience’s combined voice. Classic.
Headlining the show were Liverpool’s best hardcore band Chief. Following the sound system trouble and a small matter of microphone stands going missing, the crowd were forced to wait for Chief to start their set, and finally when the lads got the O.K. from the sound engineer, lead singer Nick wittily remarked ‘Apologies, I have one…..we only have one side of the PA!’. In true show business tradition ‘The show must go on!’ and Chief aren’t one to let technical difficulties get in the way of showing their fans a good time. Due to the problems with the sound their set was cut short and the sound engineer cut the sound to the microphones, however in the true Punk ethos ‘Chief’ and everyone in the crowd ‘did it themselves’ singing along to the awesome ‘Profits in Pockets’.
I woke up this morning with ‘Nice One’ written on my right hand in red marker pen. It is the audience of which I was privileged to be a part of who should be thanking everyone involved as it was a very enjoyable gig, with the sound problems forcing the bands and audience to up their game. Nice one lads.

Fucking Yes Mate

Another gig in the bank! We're putting on Unfun (Canada) and Pudge (Sheffield) in Heebie Jeebies Basement on Wednesday 13th April. This is pretty late notice as the lads from Pudge were finding it hard to fill up their last slot on their tour, so support hasn't been organised yet, however it will be 2 or 3 local bands that we know and love.

Check out the facebook link below and see if you're into them as we are!

This also marks our first venture in Heebie Jeebies Basement as we are searching for a home for Yam Yam Promotions that is in keeping with our ethos.

Just can't get enough of 'Smile and Burn' and have been listening to the new album 'Flight Attempt of the Kiwi' on repeat for the last week. Seriously great band so get listening!

Snowball

All set for 'Smile and Burn'? The Berlin Punk rockers are set to be with us in less than a month now and I for one am very excited by the whole thing. I can't stop listening to them on Spotify, so I'm sure to buy an album of them when they set down in Merseyside. Big news with the confirmation of two amazing support acts in the shape of Liverpool Punks 'The Wasters' and a boss acoustic act with 'The Lees'. If that's not enough to get anyone's pulse raised then I don't know what is. Just a reminder of the details, it's in the back room at Bumper from 7pm. £4 on the door, but there will be a discount offer that I'll announce closer to the day.

So now that one's all sorted, Yam Yam Promotions are looking to the future. A lot of touring British and European bands are getting in touch with them to put them on in Liverpool, which is great and the whole point of this venture, however we're bored of sticking to one venue, as handy as Bumper is, I want to be checking out all the gigging opportunities we can and giving the local bands a chance to find their favourite to play in. So if you have any ideas of venues that we could hold some kick arse Punk rock gigs please email us on the email above.

We've been putting together a Spotify playlist of bands we've put on, are in talks to put on, or dream of putting on, which will be ready to publish soon, so keep an eye on that. If you have any recommendations we're happy to hear them, write on our facebook wall.

We've still got one eye on putting on a Punk club night that will show off local talent along with the sort of bands that we want to be putting on. There isn't a credible Punk night in Liverpool and we think that this is a crying shame, but we want to make sure everything is right first before we start it. Definitely keep your eyes peeled though.

LPC

Hey guys,

Apologies for the lengthy gap between posts, it's been a hectic time both personally and professionally, but that's not excuse from now on. We've been in contact with a hell of a lot of bands recently and looks like we could have a fair few shows on our hands in the summer months so keep your eyes peeled on this blog for all the information.

Smile and Burn, our German counterparts have been on the road for a couple of weeks in what I am only hoping is a warm up for the show they will be playing in Liverpool on Thursday April 7th. Excellently supported by the mighty Chief (Liverpool's own) and more acts to be confirmed this is turning out like a gig to rival the first one. They are starting to get album reviews for their new album which they are touring to promote called 'Flight Attempt of the Kiwi' for fans of The Loved Ones, The Lawrence Arms and DEAD TO ME (new favourite of mine).

We have a logo which is shown (in microsoft Paint form) below. LPC stands for Liverpool Punk Community, so if you're putting on a Punk gig in Liverpool give me a shout and you can use it on your posters. We'll be getting it designed properly very soon and then who knows where you'll see it........

Thanks for listening.
