Deutsche Punks

Apologies for the gap in posts, it’s been a pretty hectic few weeks. We have news however! Yam Yam Promotions will be presenting ‘Smile and Burn’ an amazing Punk band from Berlin, Germany! Check them out on the myspace link below, they are perfect for fans of Punk with passion, having supported the likes of Four Year Strong and Man Overboard. This gig is going to be on Thursday 7th April and will feature local support bands. All of us at Yam Yam are committed to bringing the best Punk from around the world to the sunny shores of Liverpool, and this has been our first opportunity to bring a foreign band in, so we grabbed it with both hands. There will be a lot more details for this gig in the next couple of weeks so keep your eyes open!
As I said it’s been a hectic couple of weeks, but the fruits of our labour are here for all to see….We have another gig under our belt! Minotaur Explode (Punk) and Asbestos (Hardcore) from Dorset will be popping up to Liverpool on Friday 24th June. Minotaur Explode (for fans of Gallows) have been showcased in Rock Sound and will be in Kerrang closer to their tour. There will be much more information about this show closer to the time.
Expect some more dates to put in your diary soon.

The Long Man

So, The Arteries popped down to Liverpool on Tuesday night to rock the socks of a great Liverpool crowd. Thank you to everyone involved, the bands, Jon the sound engineer and most importantly everyone who came down to support the bands and the cause! Everything ran very smoothly considering it was our first night that we've put on, so there were no teething problems. I think most of people that came will agree that we've potentially found a venue to showcase Punk in Liverpool, and I plan to continue that with booking as many touring bands as I can.

I got talking to a lot of people at the gig and found out that all the Liverpool Punk Scene needs is a big enough venue with the right atmosphere, I hope that Bumper fulfilled the scene's needs. I think that Tuesday night was the first time I've ever seen anyone crowd surf in Bumper, but the Chief fans lived up to my expectations with their energy. I've started a mailing list to keep everyone informed of upcoming events, so if you want to be involved email yamyampromo@gmail.com with the title of the email being Mailing List.

We gave the lads from 'The Arteries' a  good ol' alcohol infused tour of Liverpool on Tuesday, and they commented on the fact that every DJ played the same songs in different bars, as if we were being followed by a reasonably awful DJ, but I think the alcohol and company made up for the music and we enjoyed an epic night out.

Tonight we've got another gig, this time it's local indie bands Post Romantics, Moguls and White Bicycles who are doing us a favour in order to fund the printing of the zine that I haven't stopped going on about for the last couple of weeks. Please come down and support the cause, and if you're interested in getting involved with then it's a good opportunity to meet me and the other people involved. It's only £3 in so that's a pound a band. Check out the facebook event for more details: http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=181475881890728&index=1. Hope to see you all down there!

Zine Gig

So I'm pushing on with the zine idea and putting on a gig at Bumper to fund the printing costs. It's on Thursday 10th February (2 days after The Arteries gig). All of the people involved are doing this as a favour so I'd firstly like to thank all the bands involved and of course Mr Rob Lewis from White Bicycles for doing the sound. The line-up thus far is Post Romantics, The Moguls and White Bicycles, but if you want to get on the bill drop me an email. I will be charging £3 on the door and all of the proceeds will go to printing the first issue of the zine. Looking forward to this one guys, and with The Arteries gig looming it's all go for everyone involved with Yam Yam Promotions! Keep in touch.
