The Arteries BIO

The Arteries hail from Swansea and are one of the nicest bunch of lads you could ever meet. They are also the reason that Yam Yam Promotions exists.

Last December I was looking at train times and costs to get over to Manchester to see The Arteries, to confirm the date I went to The Arteries' website where I saw that they were looking for somewhere to play a show in February as their tour supporting The Flatliners had been cancelled. Being a manager in a bar and dealing with a lot of event management I decided that I'd get in touch and try and put them on in Liverpool. February this year came around and the first gig went superbly well and encouraged us to start putting on shows more regularly.

Signed to American record label 'Paper + Plastik' founded by Vinnie Fiorello (Less Than Jake Drummer/Co-founder of Fueled By Ramen) which was launched in May 2008. The Arteries have been releasing records since 2008 along with touring relentlessly. 'Dead Sea' was released October 2010 and is one of my favourite records, amazing riffs coupled with a haunting passionate voice and deep meaningful lyrics. Stream the 4 tracks from this album from their bandcamp link below.

Bring on December 4th.

Long Time Gone

Hi Everyone,

I've been away for a while trying to sort out my life including a new job which has left me with very little spare time. I'm now getting to grips with my new lifestyle so plan on some more regular blog posts.

Our gigs have slowed down due to a number of reasons including my new job and Andy's finishing of his studies. We have two crackers coming up.

We are pleased to welcome Swansea Punks 'The Arteries' back to Liverpool.

I will give you more information in future posts. For now I will leave you with the generic tour poster, enjoy.

Liverpool All Dayer Part 3

After two amazing gigs on Saturday 7th May, the Yam Yam boys and Billy Liar went down to the Wolstenholme Projects to see if we were in time to catch El Toro. Luckily we just made it in time to see El Toro setting up on the downstairs stage. Playing their Surf-Garage-Punk to a crowd of happily tipsy Punks mixed in with the cool kids that are ever present at Wolstenholme events at around 1 in the morning. Liverpool is such a great city for live music and I think that it's about time that the Punk community made the most of this! El Toro were amazing and showed why they have been getting covered in the local music press. Please check them out as they're also amazing lads!
After El Toro had played a lot of the punks stuck around to enjoy the cans of Cider and the atmosphere that the Wolstenholme Projects gives off. It's such a great venue for live music and exhibitions, and one that Yam Yam will be hoping to take full advantage of very soon. What a brilliant day. Thanks to everyone involved and most importantly everyone who was at the shows!

'Oh Jesus, I've stood in me haggis!'

What a truly amazing day Saturday was, so amazing that it has taken me two days to recover and get around to doing the write up! Saturday 7th May saw Liverpool host a Punk all dayer, the likes of which have not been seen in Liverpool for years. We saw some amazing bands, had a brilliant turnout, and met some great people.
The day started out in The Barcelona Bar on Renshaw street where we had Billy Liar, Lost Soul  and The Lees on the bill. With a 4 o'clock start, we were wondering what the turnout would be like, but due to a lot of loyal punks and amazing acts we were treated to a crowd of around 40-50. The Lees started the day of with their acoustic and bass duo of Punk/Folk which went down brilliantly. These guys are lovely and funny lads so be sure to check them out in the future if you get the opportunity.
Following The Lees we had Lost Soul who is Wayne from The Kings Of Delmar. His pre song rants, and brutal lyrics got everyone in the mood for a full day of Punk Rock. Wayne has been touring for years and he's a natural when he gets on stage. Definitely one to catch next time he's in Liverpool!
Finishing off in style at The Barcelona Bar we have Edinburgh's very own Billy Liar who had been touring for a couple of weeks and was looking forward to finishing the tour off with a bang! Billy has so much energy and charisma on stage that it's very difficult to not be impressed with his tunes. Along with being a great guy Billy is an amazing song writer and I would recommend him to any Punk fans.

Stay tuned to the next couple of blog posts for more reviews of what happened on Saturday 7th May.

Punk Piss Up

Anyone free on Saturday? We have an awesome Free Punk Acoustic Matinee at Bar Barcelona on Renshaw Street that is not to be missed! The amazing Billy Liar all the way from Scotland will be treating us to some Billy Brag esque tunes, along with acoustic punk Lost Soul. Completing the bill is Liverpool's very own The Lees who are making their second appearance in a Yam Yam gig. We love that we get the opportunity to put these free shows on so make sure you come down and support you're local Punk scene. LPC - Liverpool Punk Community.
